The RDL AV-NL4 is a professional-grade network audio interface that converts four Dante digital audio channels into four balanced analog XLR outputs. Designed for studio-quality fidelity and dependable performance, the AV-NL4 integrates seamlessly into Dante-enabled audio systems used in broadcast, installed sound, live production, and recording environments.
Each channel provides a balanced +4 dBu line-level output when receiving a Dante digital signal at -20 dBFS, ensuring compatibility with professional audio equipment. For added flexibility, each output includes a front-panel switch allowing selection between line level and mic level, attenuating the output by 50 dB for direct connection to microphone inputs.
The AV-NL4 operates without special configuration software and is engineered for low-noise, low-distortion performance using high-resolution 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and RDL’s renowned analog filtering circuitry.
Dante Network Audio Conversion
The AV-NL4 converts Dante network audio directly into balanced analog outputs, making it ideal for integrating digital audio networks with traditional analog equipment.
Supported Dante audio formats include:
-
44.1 kHz
-
48 kHz
-
88.2 kHz
-
96 kHz
This flexibility allows the interface to integrate easily into modern Dante-based audio infrastructures used in professional installations.
Flexible Output Configuration
Each of the four XLR outputs includes a Mic/Line selector, providing quick level adjustment without additional equipment.
-
Line Level Output: +4 dBu nominal
-
Mic Level Output: –45 dBu nominal (50 dB attenuation)
This capability allows the AV-NL4 to connect directly to mixers, DSP processors, amplifiers, recording devices, or microphone inputs.
Each output is also protected against phantom power up to 48V, preventing accidental damage when connected to microphone preamps.
PoE or External Power Operation
The AV-NL4 can be powered in two ways:
-
Power over Ethernet (PoE) – IEEE 802.3af Class 0
-
External 24 VDC power supply
If both power sources are connected, the unit automatically prioritizes the external supply while reserving PoE power as a backup. If the external supply fails, the unit seamlessly switches to PoE without interrupting operation.
A front-panel LED indicator confirms valid power and synchronization with the Dante network.
Built for Professional Installations
The AV-NL4 features a rugged all-metal enclosure designed for stage, studio, and installed audio environments.
The chassis protects the front-panel switches from accidental damage and includes mounting brackets for fixed installations. It can also be mounted on a microphone stand using the optional RDL SF-MSM1 adapter.
Engineered and manufactured in the United States, the AV-NL4 is built for continuous duty in demanding professional environments.
