The Soundweb London BLU-BIB, or Break-In Box, provides 8 channels of analog audio input expansion for Soundweb London systems via a high-bandwidth, fault-tolerant digital audio bus. Designed for flexible and distributed installations, the BLU-BIB allows microphones and line-level sources to be connected remotely and routed digitally to Soundweb London processors.

With simple hardware configuration and front-panel control, the BLU-BIB is ideal for installations requiring reliable analog input expansion without software programming.

Digital Audio Bus & Connectivity

The BLU-BIB connects to the Soundweb London network using a 256-channel, low-latency digital audio bus over standard Category 5e cabling, supporting cable runs up to 100 meters between compatible devices.

For long-distance installations, the BSS Audio MC-1 fiber optic media converter allows distances of over 10 km (6.2 miles) using single-mode fiber.

Channel Assignment & Configuration

Channel assignment is handled entirely via six rear-panel DIP switches, allowing selection of any consecutive group of eight channels within the 256-channel bus. This hardware-based configuration eliminates the need for software setup.

Note: The BLU-BIB is not configured via HiQnet™ London Architect. All channel assignments are made using DIP switches only.

Front Panel Control & Monitoring

Each input channel features front-panel controls and indicators for quick setup and monitoring:

  • Input gain adjustment per channel

  • Phantom Power control per channel

  • Signal Present and Clip LED indicators

  • Phantom Power status indicators

  • Power status and applied gain indicators

Operating Modes

  • Edit Mode – Adjust input gain and Phantom Power

  • Normal Mode – Prevents changes to gain and Phantom Power

  • Stealth Mode – Prevents changes and disables LEDs (except power)

These modes provide both flexibility during setup and protection against tampering during operation.

Inputs & Mounting Options

The BLU-BIB provides 8 analog mic/line-level inputs using standard terminal block connectors, consistent with other Soundweb London devices.

The half-rack chassis supports multiple mounting options:

  • Rack mounting (using optional BSS Audio 1U Rack-Mount Kit)

  • Under-table mounting

  • Wall mounting (brackets included)

Power

  • Powered via 12V DC external adapter (included)

  • Terminal block connector for secure power connection
