The Shure BLX14R/W85 Wireless Lavalier Microphone System combines professional speech reproduction with the convenience of hands-free wireless operation. Featuring the Shure WL185 cardioid lavalier microphone, BLX1 bodypack transmitter, and BLX4R rackmount wireless receiver, this system is designed for presentations, houses of worship, educational facilities, conferences, and live sound applications.
Built around Shure's BLX analog UHF wireless platform, the BLX14R/W85 provides straightforward setup, convenient frequency selection, and dependable performance in suitable RF environments. The compact lavalier microphone clips discreetly to clothing, allowing presenters and speakers to move naturally without holding a microphone.
With one-touch QuickScan frequency selection, up to 14 hours of transmitter battery life, and an operating range of up to 300 feet under suitable conditions, the Shure BLX14R/W85 offers a practical solution for professional wireless speech reinforcement.
Shure WL185 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone
The included Shure WL185 is a professional lavalier condenser microphone designed for clear speech reproduction in presentations and sound reinforcement applications.
Its cardioid polar pattern focuses pickup primarily toward the front of the microphone while reducing sound arriving from other directions. This makes it useful in environments where background noise and nearby sound sources need to be managed.
The microphone's compact clip-on design allows discreet placement on clothing, providing hands-free operation for speakers, presenters, instructors, and performers.
Hands-Free Speech Reinforcement
The WL185 allows users to maintain consistent microphone placement while speaking, teaching, or presenting.
Its small profile is especially useful for corporate presentations, worship services, conferences, and educational environments where a handheld microphone would be inconvenient.
BLX4R Rackmount Wireless Receiver
The Shure BLX4R is a single-channel wireless receiver designed for professional live sound and installed audio applications.
Its rackmount configuration makes it suitable for equipment racks, portable sound systems, houses of worship, and presentation facilities.
One-Touch QuickScan Frequency Selection
Shure QuickScan searches for an available operating frequency within the system's selected wireless frequency band.
This simplifies setup and helps users select an appropriate frequency when other wireless equipment is operating nearby.
Professional Audio Outputs
The BLX4R provides XLR and 1/4-inch audio outputs for connection to compatible mixing consoles, amplifiers, and professional sound systems.
Rackmount hardware allows the receiver to be integrated into an equipment rack.
BLX1 Bodypack Transmitter for Wireless Mobility
The included Shure BLX1 bodypack transmitter connects to the WL185 lavalier microphone and transmits audio wirelessly to the BLX4R receiver.
Its compact design allows speakers and presenters to move freely while keeping their hands available for demonstrations, presentations, and other activities.
Powered by two AA batteries, the BLX1 provides up to 14 hours of operation, depending on battery type and operating conditions.
Professional Analog UHF Wireless Performance
The Shure BLX14R/W85 operates on the Shure BLX analog UHF wireless platform, providing professional wireless audio for compatible live sound and presentation applications.
The system offers an operating range of up to 300 feet (91 meters) under suitable line-of-sight conditions.
The BLX wireless audio frequency response is 50 Hz–15 kHz, depending on microphone type.
Actual wireless performance can vary based on RF interference, obstacles, equipment placement, and the operating environment.
