The SolidDrive SD250 is a compact 2-channel Class D amplifier designed specifically to power SolidDrive surface-mount audio transducers. Delivering 50 watts per channel into 4 ohms, the SD250 provides the power and signal processing needed to turn wood, glass, drywall, and other solid surfaces into sound sources.

Built-in selectable EQ settings optimize the amplifier for different surface materials, helping compensate for the acoustic characteristics of wood, glass, drywall, and other flat mounting surfaces. This makes the SD250 an ideal amplifier for hidden audio, architectural audio, immersive sound, and sound masking applications.

50W Per Channel Class D Amplification

The SD250 delivers 50 watts per channel at 4 ohms, providing ample power for SolidDrive transducers while maintaining a compact footprint.

Its Class D amplifier design provides efficient operation in a small aluminum chassis, making it suitable for installations where space is limited.

The amplifier can operate in three configurations:

  • Stereo — independent left and right channels
  • Dual mono — both channels operate as separate mono outputs
  • Bridged mono — combines the amplifier channels for a single higher-power output

Built-In EQ for Solid Surface Applications

Unlike a conventional amplifier, the SD250 includes selectable equalization designed for planar-source audio applications.

EQ settings can be selected to optimize performance when SolidDrive transducers are mounted to different materials, including:

  • Wood
  • Glass
  • Drywall
  • Flat surfaces

This allows the amplifier to compensate for differences in the way various surfaces respond to the transducer, helping create more consistent and natural-sounding audio.

Designed for SolidDrive Transducers

The SD250 is compatible with SolidDrive actuators including the SD1, SD1G, SD1SM, and MSK-1.

SolidDrive transducers transfer audio energy directly into a mounting surface rather than using a conventional visible loudspeaker cone. The result is an unobtrusive audio solution where the listening surface itself becomes the sound source.

This makes the SD250 particularly useful when traditional speakers are undesirable or when a completely integrated architectural audio system is required.

Flexible Audio Inputs

The SD250 provides multiple input options for connecting professional and consumer audio equipment.

Input connections include:

  • Balanced stereo Euroblock input
  • Unbalanced mini-jack input
  • High-level Euroblock input

This flexibility allows the amplifier to be integrated into a variety of commercial audio systems without requiring additional input-conversion equipment.

Energy-Efficient Operation

An external 12–32V trigger input allows the SD250 to be remotely controlled as part of an integrated audio system.

The amplifier also features signal-detecting automatic standby, which reduces power consumption when no audio signal is present. The amplifier automatically returns to operation when an audio signal is detected.

Independent Channel Control

Dual concentric gain controls allow the two amplifier channels to be adjusted independently while maintaining the SD250's compact form factor.

This is useful when left and right channels require different output levels or when the amplifier is operating in a dual-mono configuration.

Compact Aluminum Design

The SD250 uses a compact aluminum enclosure measuring approximately 1.2" x 3.9" x 4", making it easy to install in locations where a conventional power amplifier would be too large.

An optional AC-SA502-RMA rack-mount adapter kit is available for rack-based installations.
